Anatomy of the foot

Your feet are made of a quarter of the total number of bones in the human body. One foot contains 26 bones and 33 joints held together by more than 100 muscles, ligaments, tendons and a network of blood vessels, nerves, skin and soft tissue. our feet allow us to walk upright but also provides our body with stability and shock absorption.

Feet come in different shapes and sizes. Their appearnce depends on age, gender, genetics and the way you use or misuse your feet.

The foot is divided into 3 parts:

The rear foot consists of 7 bones and 3 joints and allows the foot to rotate and move up and down. It establishes the contact to the ground and absorbs the shock of the impact.

The mid foot forms the arch, which provides support and serves as a shock absorber.

The fore foot is composed of the toes and their connecting bones. The forefoot allows us to push off the ground later in the step when walking.
