Physiotherapy

What does Physiotherapy aim to do?

Physiotherapy aims to improve or maintain people's bodily comfort and psysical abilities. By doing this, it aims to support people's psychological and social well-being.

A physiotherapist, as part of a team, may visit people at home to find out how they are coping and whether any part could be changed to make things easier.

A physiotherapist also reports their client's abilities, needs and the urgency of their situation, to the wider group of different health and social service workers who care for them. It is very important for the people who organise our care to know about our psysical abilities.

Where does Physiotherapy take place?

Physiotherapy may take place in a health centre or a hospital, or at home. In a health centre or hospital setting, it may happen in an area like a gym, with mats or soft flooring, and equipment to build different muscles of help with balance. It may take place on a couch or bed, allowing different parts of your body to be handled or moved.
