Living room (living areas)
- The furniture should be arranged in a way that is possible to move around without bumping into it. Remove any furniture you do not use and make sure all pathways are clear.
- Armchairs, sofas and chairs should have a solid armrest and straight, strong back and be high enough to get out easily (the upholstery should not be too soft either).
- Remove castors from easily movable furniture so that they become more stable when leaning against them or holding on to aid balance.
- Remove any wobbly chairs and tables.

|
- Any loose rugs should be either removed or fixed to the floor with double sided tape.
- Heater and fans should not be placed in the middle of the room.
- The telephone should be located somewhere in easy reach and in a low position close to the floor, (in case of a fall). Have emergency numbers programmed into the phone or next to the phone.
