Parkinson's disease and falls

The part of the brain affected by Parkinson's disease is an important area for posture and balance. This means that some people with Parkinson's find they are more likely to lose their balance and fall. The risk of falling is expected to increase during the later stage of the disease and many Parkinson's patients will have repeated falls. For most of these patients preventing falls and subsequent injuries becomes a major priority.
