The reasons why older people fall can vary and can be due to factors in your body or factors in the environment. There are many potential causes. Rarely is there one cause. Health professionals can help to work out the most likely causes of falls. Researchers have identified over 400 different risk factors.

Often it is a combination of different risk factors that can cause people to fall. This can include things such as impaired balance or poor vision or a loose rug. Many things can contribute to falls. These can include, medications, heart conditions, strokes, diabetes, arthritis, weakness in the legs and poor vision.
