Taking your medicine

  • Always read the instructions before taking a new medication. Check the label each time you take a drug.
  • Make sure you know how to take your medicine - some should be swallowed or eaten before or after eating, others are for external use only.
  • Always take the medicine in the dosage as prescribed by your doctor. If not, you could suffer an adverse reaction.
  • Be always aware how many and what kind of medication you take. Make a list of your medicines and change it when you update your medication.
  • Don’t stop any medication without talking to your doctor.

Keeping your medicine safe

  • Keep your medication in a dry, safe place, away from sunlight. Some drugs should be kept in the fridge. Always read the label or ask the pharmacist.
  • Keep medicine in the bottle or package supplied by the pharmacist. Don’t mix medicines together in a single container.
  • Do not put any unused or out of date medication into the dustbin. Take them to your pharmacist, who can dispose of them safely.
