Make your home safe
Most falls occur at home and most fractures result from a fall at home. Falls in the home are more frequent, and more physically and mentally distressing, the older we get.
It is easy to trip over a rug, to fall over while standing on a chair, or to slip on the wet floor in the bathroom.
Many falls can be prevented by recognising the dangers and hazards, and taking the necessary steps to minimise them. By carrying out only few small changes you can make your home safer and cut the risk of falling drastically, and therefore live your life as normal as possible.
The occupational therapist from your local hospital will be able to help you to do this.
