Bathroom

  • The bathroom should be spacious enough to be able to move around without having to hold onto towel rails, taps, the toilet roll, shower screen or doors.
  • Replace glass shower enclosures with non-shattering material to avoid any serious injuries in case you fall.
  • Use a non-slip mat, slip-resistant strips, patches or similar in bath or shower and in front of it for safe exit and entry. Wipe wet floor immediately.
  • Grab rails or other equipment can assist you with stepping safely into the shower and getting in and out of the bath.

  • When bathing or taking a shower, use a stable, non-skid shower chair with rubber stoppers or other equipment (consult with the Occupational Therapist).
  • Avoid using the sink for support, as sinks may not be securely fastened to the wall or floor.
